Spectators invited to free bike demos at Cadwell Park on 1 May

Wednesday, April 30 2014

This Thursday (1 May), Cadwell Park will be staging a media event ahead of the circuit's 80th anniversary celebrations in August. The event will feature live demonstrations from former racers on famous bikes, and entry to spectators is free.

Riders attending will include Derek Chatterton, who beat the legendary Giacomo Agostini at the 1971 Cadwell Park International Meeting. Chatterton will be riding his Yamaha TR2 from that race, and collection owner John Chapman will bringing along a replica of the 500 MV that Agostini also rode in the very same race.

Others include Isle Of Man TT star Gary Johnson riding another 500 MV Augusta 3 cylinder, whilst Owen Cherrell will be demonstrating an ex-Barry Sheene RG 500. Jack Machin will be on board the ex-Gene Romeo TZ 750, with Paul Cott on a TZ 700, Peter Boast with a 500 RC Honda 4 and Yamaha OWO1, John Hattersley on Seeley G50, and Malcolm Wheeler with a Ducati TT 2.

Early AJS and Matchless race bikes and a couple of pre war Alfa Romeo race cars will also be on display. Demonstrations will be on track from 3pm and entry to the venue is free to spectators.

The Cadwell Park 80th Anniversary Celebration, to be held on 3 August, will include three special celebration races, plus off circuit attractions range from bike and car displays, a bike trial display, and live music. Tickets are available from £14, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information or to book call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
