Kiyonari set to defend BSB title lead at home round

Monday, August 16 2010

The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship reaches a critical stage at Cadwell Park this Bank Holiday weekend (28/29/30 August) as the leading protagonists look to strengthen their 2010 title challenges and Louth-based Ryuichi Kiyonari is setting his sights on nothing less than a double victory.

Former two-time BSB champion Kiyonari is seeking a repeat performance at his home circuit, having scored his first victory at the Lincolnshire circuit back in May. He leads the overall standings by seven points from Worx Crescent Suzuki's Tommy Hill, whilst his HM Plant Honda team-mate Josh Brookes is third at a time when podium finishes are vital ahead of the title Showdown over the final three rounds.

Kiyonari said: I am happy to return to Cadwell Park as it is my home track as I only live a few miles away, so I am motivated to have good results there for myself and the HM Plant Honda team. The championship points are so close, so I know I need to have two good races to get the podium credits, because they are important for the standings after the weekend.

"I think as a team we are stronger now than we were when we won at Cadwell Park earlier in the year, so I am feeling confident that the improvements we have made mean we can do it again. I think for me, the main problem will be my team-mate Josh as he doesn't give up and he was fast there before, but I will enjoy another battle with him and we want to put on a good show for the fans.

The next round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship is the Showdown decider at Cadwell Park on 28/29/30 August. For more information and to book your tickets in advance call 0870 950 9000 or click the link below
