Cadwell Park goes board stupid for Gravity Racing Festival

Sunday, November 07 2010

Cadwell Park will be exchanging horsepower for pedal power at the Gravity Racing Festival, the circuit's final 2010 event, on Saturday 13 November.

This is the fourth year that Cadwell Park has hosted this unique celebration, which brings together local, national and international teams to compete against the clock in a variety of gravity-powered machinery.

The 2010 Gravity Racing Festival will feature a competition for go-kart style soapbox racers, and among the teams to have signed up for this category are two local schools: Oasis Academy in Immingham and Lincoln's Yarborough School, both of whom have built a machine as part of their engineering studies.

Lining up alongside the two school teams will be a leading car manufacturer, as a team of staff from Bentley has also created a hi-spec soapbox racer for the 2010 showdown.

In addition to the soapbox racers, the Gravity Racing Festival will feature a new competition for Gravity Sidecars. Plus, Cadwell Park will be hosting two skateboarding contests a Street Luge, where riders steer skateboards down the track feet first, an a Downhill Street Luge, in which competitors stand or kneel in aerodynamic positions to gather as much speed as possible. There will also be a Gravity Bike competition for BMW bicycles with no pedals or chains.

The events will take place at the Coppice and Mansfield sections of Cadwell Park circuit, with Coppice being used in reverse, and the fastest entrant in each discipline will advance to a head-to-head grand finale between each discipline, where the overall winner will be crowned 2010 King of Gravity!

Tickets for the Gravity Racing Festival at Cadwell Park on Saturday 13 November cost £10 per car on the gate. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click the link below.
