Busy weekend ahead for Club MSV as novice series' grow

Friday, April 20 2012

Club MSV are getting set for a busy weekend of racing on 28-29 April, when they will hold two events at different circuits, including the inaugural meeting of the new Bike Trackday Trophy.

Cadwell Park is the venue for the two-wheeled novice series on 29 April, which follows months of preparation from both organisers and riders, many of whom are making the transition from non-competitive track riding to racing. Club MSV's step-by-step process, and access to expert advice for competitors, has helped to bring riders to the grid.

The weekend includes a three-hour endurance race, where riders can team up with up to three more experienced partners, sharing the costs of competition. A 45 minute event for solo riders will be open to novices only. A firm favourite amongst bikers, Cadwell Park is the ideal venue for the series' opening round.

Meanwhile at Donington Park, rounds two and three of the Team Trophy series for drivers will be underway. Formed as a spin off to the car Trackday Trophy, which has provided the template for the new bike series, the Team Trophy has given graduates of the novce series somewhere to race after their first season. Over 100 drivers have entered motorsport through this initiative where a class system aimed at encouraging competitors to enter their own trackday cars has helped to keep grid numbers high during a harsh economic period.

Teams to watch out for in the Team Trophy races include JP Racing, who performed well in the Trackday Trophy, whilst Prestige Wheels should be competitive, as will Mad Motorsport and Team Bacon Butty Racing, who return to the series this year.

Club MSV Manager Alex Baker said: "It will be a busy weekend for us but that's a great testament to the strength of the original idea we had three years ago. I can't wait to see the riders out at Cadwell Park and although I'm sure many of them will be a little nervous ahead of their race debuts, I'm sure we'll see lots of smiling faces on Sunday evening!"
