Growing band of female marshals at Cadwell Park raise vital funds

Tuesday, February 28 2012

A team of female marshals at Cadwell Park have made the first of many planned donations this year to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust.

The 'Cadwell Totties' actively promote marshalling to women in conjunction with the north east region of the British Motorsport Marshals Club. They have already generated enough recruits to introduce the first all-female Marshal post at Cadwell Park and combine these activities with charity fundraising.

Marshal cadets can start from the age of 11 with parental support and attendance, and activities range from working in race control to trackside duties that include flags, report writing and track clearnace, and startline or assembly duties.

Vivienne Chambers, the Ambucopter Fundraiser for Lincolnshire expressed her thanks to the group and told Lynne Kendall, BMMC NE Grading Officer and Co-founder of the Cadwell Totties; "I think it all seems so exciting and wonderful. I didn't realise that so many women were involved in the sport.  We are very grateful for the support offered by the group and wish them well in their future activities."

The continued existence of motorsport relies on volunteer marshals, who benefit from an unrivalled view of the action. Both male and female volunteers of all ages from 11 are welcome, if you are interested in becoming a marshal, click here for more information.
