Ellison aims to claim Showdown spot at Cadwell Park

Friday, August 16 2013

James Ellison could become the fourth rider to secure his position in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship Showdown at Cadwell Park next weekend (24/25/26 August) as the Milwaukee Yamaha team bid to repeat their impressive double win of last season in Lincolnshire.

Ellison returned to winning ways at Oulton Park in the opening race of the triple-header and already having tested at the circuit earlier in the season is confident of another strong performance next weekend. The Milwaukee Yamaha have been the team to beat in recent seasons with Tommy Hill and Michael Laverty claiming the last five wins at the circuit for the team, something that Ellison is determined to continue.

Ellison said: "We went testing at Cadwell Park earlier in the season and we did some good lap times. We showed our form at Oulton Park and we are working hard as a team and I have been doing my homework too. I know we can be in the top six; that isn't me being arrogant or anything like that, but that is where we should be and if we can solidify that position next weekend then that is the aim. We would have liked to have done it earlier, but now we have to get that done as soon as we can and at the same time keep pushing for those final podium credits.

"Cadwell Park has been good for the Yamahas in the past but if you look at the times from this season compared to last everyone has stepped it up this year and we can't rely on previous history. We are all riding at the limit and each bike has strong points but now it is just on certain parts of the track; we saw at Oulton Park that we were all making moves to try and get the advantage. What you can bet on is that I will be trying my absolute hardest to be up the front next weekend and trying to get the Milwaukee Yamaha back on the top step of the podium."
