Lowes sets sights on home round success

Tuesday, August 20 2013

Alex Lowes is ready to take on his MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship rivals at his home round of Cadwell Park this Bank Holiday weekend as the Samsung Honda rider aims for his first Superbike victory at the Lincolnshire circuit.

Lowes secured his place in the Showdown alongside title rivals Shane 'Shakey' Byrne and Josh Brookes last time out and now the Samsung Honda rider is ready to build on his twelve podium finishes so far this season in order to close the deficit in the podium credit stakes. The Lincoln-born rider claimed his first podium finish in the championship at the event last season and now wants to come out fighting this weekend.

Lowes arrives at Cadwell Park off the back of two third places at Oulton Park, but expects the battles this weekend to be every bit as hard fought with the Showdown now rapidly approaching.

Lowes said: "We had some great races at Oulton Park and they were as exciting for us riders as I am sure they were for the fans! If the races at Cadwell Park are going to be like that then it is going to be some more close races and it will be awesome to be part of. Nobody was able to get away in the race and we were all pushing each other hard for the positions. I think now the rest will have to come from me, and likewise the other riders are probably in the same position.

"I have good memories of Cadwell Park from last year as that is where I had my first podium finish and we need to have some strong results now so that we can put it all on the line for the Showdown.  Like I said before everyone is so close now at the front that it is down to the riders to make it count."

Tickets are now available to purchase on the gate at Cadwell Park. Adult tickets cost £10 on practice day (Saturday), £13 on qualifying day (Sunday) and £31 on raceday (Monday).  Children under 13 go free! For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click  here.
