High-flying Brookes set for Cadwell Park battle

Thursday, August 21 2014

Josh Brookes added to his winning tally last time out and now the Milwaukee Yamaha rider is aiming high as the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship hits Cadwell Park this August Bank Holiday weekend (23/24/25).

Brookes scored his fourth win of the season at Oulton Park and the Australian has his sights firmly set on a repeat performance as he bids to cut the deficit to series leader Shane 'Shakey' Byrne in the Podium Points table ahead of the Showdown. Last season, Brookes was on the podium in the opening race at the Lincolnshire circuit, before crashing out whilst fighting for the victory in the second contest, but in 2010 he won at Cadwell Park.

Brookes said: "I remember last year at Cadwell Park having some really good, close battles with Alex (Lowes) as he was on good form. I seem to remember that event as one of best of the year in terms of having a strong race and speed. I am hoping that it is a track thing and if you focus on the circuit I think the Yamaha could be super fast there.

"We have seen in the past that the Yamaha has been strong, with Tommy (Hill), Michael (Laverty) and Leon (Camier) all having good results - it should be a track that it is well suited to. I am hoping that the two things combined will make for some good races and we can continue to push for the best results possible."
