Westmoreland set for Cadwell Park return

Monday, August 18 2014

James Westmoreland will make his return to the MCE Insurance British Superbike grid at his home round of Cadwell Park this weekend (23-25 August) as he bids for a strong end to his season after missing three rounds through injury.

Hull-based Westmoreland started his season with top eight finishes and a best result of sixth at Oulton Park in May, but a crash in the second race at Knockhill left him with a thumb injury that required surgery. Now the Buildbase BMW rider is aiming to come back and push for results, having seen the success of team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari.

Westmoreland said: "Obviously I'm really eager to come back at Cadwell and start the second part of my season. It's been hugely frustrating and difficult time, but I've been working with a great surgeon in Mike Hayton and also some of the best physios, and they've done a great job with my thumb and wrist. I'm excited to get back on my s1000rr and with my Buildbase BMW team and have five strong rounds.

"I haven't lost any speed from last year, we have just had things go against us this season. Our pace has actually been very good, but we haven't put it all together. As you can see with Kiyo our package is very strong. It's important I learn off him in these five rounds, from a championship point of view our year isn't going to be great, but we can certainly salvage it with some good results if we put everything together."

Discounted advance tickets are available until midday on Wednesday 20 August from just £26; children under 13 are admitted free. For more information and to book please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
