Former GP rider Teuvo Länsivuori joins International Classic line-up

Wednesday, July 01 2015

Former Motorcycle Grand Prix frontrunner Teuvo Länsivuori has joined the list of riders taking part in this month's (25/26 July) Cadwell Park International Classic, the UK's newest and biggest historic bike racing event.

The Finnish rider competed in Grands Prix from 1969 to 1978, finishing second in the 250cc and 350cc classes in 1973, the latter to Giacomo Agostini, who will also be attending the International Classic. Graduating to the top 500cc class the following year with Yamaha, he finished third in his debut season and after switching to Suzuki, was championship runner-up to team-mate Barry Sheene in 1976.

Teuvo will be taking part in track parades, interviews and autograph signings at the event, and joins a star-studded line-up that includes 15-time World Champion Giacomo Agostini, Grand Prix veterans Paul Smart and Rex Butcher, British champions Roger Burnett, Chris Walker and John Reynolds, plus Phil Read, Derek Chatterton, Mick Grant and many more.

Teuvo said: "My first visit to Cadwell Park was in 1978 and if I remember right, Mick Grant won and I was in second place. My first impression was that it was an interesting race track in a park. It's a great race track and the event had an wonderful international atmosphere. It was a good race for me when preparing for the world series. The English riders were world class racers.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Agostini again. The last time we met was in Finland in 2014 at Muistojen Imatranajo."

Tickets for the Cadwell Park International Classic are available from £15, with free entry for children under 13. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
