Historic Wolds Trophy returns to Cadwell Park this weekend!

Monday, June 10 2019

This weekend brings a wealth of historic action to Cadwell Park with the return of the HSCC Historic Wolds Trophy on 15-16 June for two days of stunning antique motoring. A diverse number of series will take on the challenging twists and turns of the Lincolnshire circuit with action ranging from historic touring cars to old-school single-seaters.

The Wolds Trophy will echo to the sound of sidevalve V8s once again, as the BRISCA Heritage Stock Cars take to the circuit for demonstrations during the lunch break on both days. Plus, visitors can get up close to these machines in the display area throughout the weekend, and chat to some of the drivers who wrestled these beasts around the old oval track on the infield at Charlie's.

Series to look out for on include the Guards Trophy featuring a range of GT and sports cars that raced internationally before 1966. Stunning vehicles such as Chevron B8s, Jaguar E-types and Lotus Elans are just a handful of the most popular machines frequenting the series.

Another truly old-school series to look out for is the Historic Road Sports series with road-legal historic sports cars battling it out on track. This series caters for machines built and registered between 1947 and 1969 and extra points are awarded to competitors for driving the vehicle to and from the circuit.

Similar to the Historic Road Sports series is the 70's Road Sports, a series aimed at popular sports cars produced and registered in the 1970s. This series caters for a whole host of machinery, packed with Porsches, Datsuns, MGs and numerous other marques. Expect fast and frenetic action from these racers!

The Historic Formula Ford championship provides some of the most enthralling single-seater racing with drivers competing in cars built and raced before 1972. With a complete lack of aerodynamics, much of the speed is down to driver ability producing some of the most unmissable on-track battles. The Historic Formula Ford 2000 category caters for pre-1980 vehicles with slick tyres, wings and more powerful engines acting as the next step of progression in single-seater racing.

Historic touring car action will also get underway this weekend with an eclectic mix of saloon cars set to feature. Expect to see Mini Coopers battling Ford Anglias, Lotus Cortinas, Ford Mustangs, Ford Falcons and numerous other iconic vehicles.

Other competing series include Historic Formula 3, Classic Clubmans, Classic Racing Cars and Ford Escorts.

Tickets for the HSCC Historic Wolds Trophy at Cadwell Park (15-16 June) are available online for £12 per day until midday on Wednesday or on the gate for £16 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
